Sorido Wall

Overview

Papua Diving, which runs Sorido Bay Resort, calls Sorido Wall another jewel on its doorstep and lists it as 1 minute away by boat. It describes macro life such as wire coral crabs alongside big schools of fusiliers and surgeonfish, with barracuda and reef sharks drawn by the currents that flow past. Papua Diving lists Sorido Wall as a separate site from Cape Kri.

Along the wall

PADI's page for the site, contributed by Papua Diving - Sorido Bay, says the wall is well known for its strong current and its high quantity of fish life. Its account describes gliding along the wall past large schools of fish, with grey reef sharks and other predatory fish hunting along it. Near the end of the wall, it says, a small channel holds a school of barracuda, and the dive ends on the coral garden heading towards Cape Kri.

Depth and level

PADI's page gives a maximum depth of 70 metres and lists drift, reef, wall and channel among the dive types. It names Advanced Open Water Diver, Deep Diver and Drift Diver as useful training and suggests a camera, a dive computer and a surface marker buoy. Papua Diving rates the dive level as intermediate to advanced, lists wide-angle as the highlight and describes the site as snorkel friendly.
