About This Dive Site
Abdeens Reef is named in operator material for El Nido’s Bacuit Bay. A 2016 Sea for Yourself itinerary describes a snorkeling stop with shallow coral gardens, while Dolarog Resort lists the reef among its island-hopping destinations. The coral description is historical and does not establish current reef condition.
This partial guide preserves the reef name without claiming a separately surveyed site. EL Dive also refers to an Abdeens cave near Miniloc; the relationship between that cave and the reef is unconfirmed here. Exact reef boundaries and any overlap with South Miniloc, Twin Rocks or other nearby sites remain unresolved. No cave route or verified alias is established.
No coordinates are supplied. Current access, scuba entry arrangements, depth, visibility, currents, seasonal conditions and diver suitability remain unknown. A snorkeling itinerary does not establish suitability for a particular scuba dive, and the sources used here do not establish current wildlife sightings.
Location unresolved: No source-backed coordinate has been established for Abdeens Reef in this guide. No map marker or navigation point is supplied.
What the 2016 itinerary says
The Sea for Yourself brochure for its 2016 Philippines snorkeling program describes the Nido Marine Reserve as "a naturalist's paradise with more than 400 species of coral and more than 800 species of fish". That figure is the brochure's description of the reserve as a whole, not of Abdeens Reef. In its itinerary text the brochure says "Abdeens Reef will allow us to snorkel amongst shallow, beautiful coral gardens", and it appears in the same passage as a marine lake called Secret Beach on Matinloc Island.
For days 8 to 11 the brochure says a privately chartered snorkeling boat would travel from the Miniloc Island Resort to shallow reefs in Bacuit Bay. It names "Mantinoc Island, Abdeens Reef, Big Lagoon, Lagen Island, Pinisil Cave, Simizu Island and Pangulasian" as sites it plans to visit, and says the specific sites chosen "will depend on local conditions at the time of our visit". The program describes each day as boat-supported snorkels with lunch at the resort.
What this does and does not show
This is a single operator's printed itinerary from 2016. It places the reef among Bacuit Bay snorkeling stops reached from Miniloc Island, and it describes shallow coral gardens. It does not give a depth, a scuba entry point, a current, a visibility figure or a wildlife list for the reef.
A dated 2010 scuba dive report
A Lakwatsero dive report published on 2 July 2010 (modified October 2013) describes a first dive with Palawan Divers at "Abdeen's Reef, south east of Miniloc Island", where "Table, Hard, Staghorn and Mushroom corals are abundant". It says "A buoy line that goes down to eight or nine meters is located around 15 meters from the cliff". The writer logged 26.3 meters and 63 minutes, with a garden eel, squids, bat fish and barracudas. These are one diver's figures on one visit, and the report does not mention the Abdeens cave.
