About This Dive Site

Aqua-Venture lists Agahuta among its Anilao diving destinations, separately from Red Rock and Batalan Rock. REEF records Agahuta as a survey location on Marikaban Island. It is presented within the Anilao operator diving area, which also includes existing Tingloy-area guides; that grouping is not a precise position.

Agahuta is retained as a distinct source name. It is not treated as an alias of Red Rock or the closed Batalan site. A source listing does not establish current access, exact reef boundaries or permission to enter a protected area.

Location unresolved: The exact dive-site position has not been established for this partial guide. It has no map marker or navigation point.

Depth, current strength, visibility, seasonal conditions, entry arrangements and diver suitability remain unknown in this partial guide. Confirm the intended site and current access with a local operator before planning a dive. No local-diver verification has been recorded.

The one descriptive operator account

The Anilao Diving operator guide describes Agahuta as 8 to 25 m deep, approximately 23 minutes by banca boat from its resort, with slight to moderate current and visibility of about 10 m. It says the dive can be one way or a return to the boat depending on current, and describes a long sandy slope with scattered big and small rocks carrying corals, including big basket corals and soft sponges. The operator reports a school of blue-lined snapper, lots of crinoids and some fan corals on the deeper slope, and calls the site ideal for underwater naturalists and beginner divers. These are one operator's undated, generalised statements and are not confirmed by a second descriptive source.

Listings without description

Aqua-Venture's dive-site table lists Agahuta at 18 m with slight current, slopes and corals as its attractions and macro lenses, a depth that differs from the 25 m maximum above. Freedom Dive names Agahuta among Anilao's dive sites. REEF's volunteer fish-survey database lists Agahuta (Marikaban Island) as a survey location with eleven surveys, which supports the Marikaban placement already noted but gives no position. No dated firsthand report, coordinate or independent depth record was found in this review, so the guide remains partial.

A dated dive log and more survey detail

Michael McFadyen's dive log, in an entry dated 21 October 2025 and headed Agahuta, notes that he had dived the site in 2023 and records no current and visibility of 10 to 12 m. He went west to 20 m and then down a steeper slope to 25 m, found small bommies in the shallows and a mostly coral-rubble bottom, and at 20 m some large flat coral areas with small overhangs. He lists thousands of niger triggerfish, many small porcupinefish, some lionfish and moray eels, a small ribbon eel, a mantis shrimp, many anemones with clownfish and a dozen batfish, and remarks that there were not many nudibranchs. These are one diver's observations on that date. REEF's report for its survey site Agahuta (Marikaban Island), retrieved October 2026, counts eleven surveys, three by expert and eight by novice surveyors, with 244 species reported over 12 hours 55 minutes of bottom time; the most frequently recorded fish include golden damsel, neon damsel, pearl-scaled angelfish, reticulated dascyllus and Ambon damsel. Manila Scuba Diving Adventure's dive-site list, in a Wayback snapshot of 28 September 2026, also names Agahuta among its Anilao sites without any description.
