About This Dive Site
Angol Point's shallow reef
New Wave Divers places Angol Point at the southern end of Boracay's White Beach coast. Its guide describes a reef slope around 5–20 m and a shallow section used for introductory and Open Water training dives. These are the operator's route descriptions, not a surveyed minimum and maximum for the entire site.
Look closely at the reef
The operator reports frogfish, nudibranchs and small crustaceans among coral and anemones. Treat these as reported wildlife, not a promise of sightings. A slow visit focused on small subjects may be more useful than expecting a large-animal dive.
Confirm the section you will visit
Ask which part of the slope is planned and whether that day's conditions suit your experience. This partial guide does not resolve the existing depth and access uncertainties shown elsewhere on the listing.
Depth figures from other operators
Operators publish different ranges for this reef. DiveGurus Boracay's page, read in October 2026, gives 5 to 12 metres and a 5-minute boat ride; WaterColors Boracay lists 5 to 15 metres, 5 minutes from Station 3 and 7 from Station 1; Wicked Squid Divers gives 6 to 20 metres with none to mild current; Eclipse Dive Center gives a maximum of 12 metres; and New Wave's own article of 4 January 2025 gives 5 to 18 metres with 15 to 25 metre visibility depending on season. The Philippine Dive Guide page of January 2026 and Divezone's review both say 10 to 15 metres. These are the operators' own figures and are not reconciled here. WaterColors flags reduced visibility after rains from river run-off on the mainland.
What the pages describe
DiveGurus describes patch coral and pinnacles covered in stony and leather corals, anemones, feather stars, sea stars and sea cucumbers, with gobies, ribbon eels, moray eels, lionfish, sweetlips and damselfish, and lists the site for Open Water training, Discover Scuba and night dives. Eclipse mentions scorpionfish, bannerfish, sweetlips, sea snakes, sea stars and sea cucumbers and also names it a favourite for night dives and snorkelling. Wicked Squid describes coral heads rising from the reef with eels, lionfish, nudibranchs and anemones hosting clownfish, crabs and shrimps. New Wave's January 2025 article adds ribbon eels, frogfish, black damselfish and sunset wrasse, a sandy seabed near shore giving way to reef, and patches of seagrass between coral heads. A Divezone dive log of 19 October 2012 describes two giant coral bommies about 4 metres high and 5 metres wide framing the entrance to the sloping part of the site, covered with anthias, damselfish, butterflyfish and lionfish, with nudibranchs below and ribbon eels nearby.
Dated dive logs
New Wave's log of 2 May 2025 records a 22 metre, 48 minute dive with two ribbon eels, a scorpionfish and porcelain crabs in an anemone in the shallows, a white frogfish hiding upside down in soft corals at the big rock formation, and a blue-spotted stingray buried in the sand deeper down. Its log of 25 June 2025 found nudibranchs, the same white frogfish, crabs, moray eels and a large lobster during the safety stop, at 15 metres maximum. The scubadiving.place listing, with twelve diver reviews, shows an average depth of 16 metres.

Certification requiredInformation under review
Contrary evidence
no certification needed
Scotty's Action Sports Network explicitly states that no certification is needed for scuba diving packages, which contradicts the claim that Open Water certification is required.

all levels
PADI states Angol Point is suitable for divers of all levels, and Scotty's Action Sports Network suggests it for beginners and training, implying Open Water is not strictly required.
