About This Dive Site
Bacong
Bernds Liveaboard describes Bacong as a coral-covered wall in Anda, with both hard and soft corals and small reef life to look for. This is a useful starting point for divers interested in the reef itself rather than a promised animal encounter.
What the evidence supports
The naming needs checking locally: other listings distinguish Bacong West and Bacong East, while this record retains the broader Bacong name. Their measurements and access details should not automatically be treated as interchangeable. Confirm the intended section with the operator before using another listing to plan this dive.
Planning and remaining unknowns
This is a partial, source-attributed guide. Current conditions, exact route, minimum certification and dependable encounter frequency have not been established by this review. The description does not independently validate the existing map position.
How the wall is described
Several dated sources describe Bacong as a wall dive with figures that differ. Blue Star Dive and Resort's page, last modified December 2015, calls it a stunning wall down to 25 meter covered completely with hard and soft corals, with nudibranchs, shrimps, crabs and mackerel in the blue; the Bernd's Dive Safaris Anda page, in a Wayback snapshot of December 2025, carries almost the same wording, so the two are treated as one lineage. A dive-site listing on the SSI page for Anda Scuba Diving describes Bacong as a wall dive that starts with a sandy slope which turns into a nice wall, 5 meters on top, dropping down to 30 meters, with some cracks and crevices in the wall. Bohol.ph's article of 19 June 2010 gives a 20 m figure, calls Bacong a great dive suitable for all levels with a steep wall densely populated by corals, and says sea horses are often found on the big fan corals at around 18 to 20 meters. Twenty, 25 and 30 metres are three different figures from three sources; they are not reconciled here, and the 18 to 20 m fan-coral depth is a feature depth, not a site range.
Reported sightings and neighbouring names
Bohol.ph in 2010 also told divers to watch for well camouflaged stonefish and turtles and reported a 1.5 meter humpback parrotfish cruising between here and Virgen. Teresa Zubi's Starfish page, translating the Bituon Beach resort's German descriptions, pairs Virgin and Bacong as a drift with the current from one dive site to the other. These are observations recorded at the time, not promised encounters. The split naming noted above appears in the operator material: Magic Oceans' 2019 site-description sheet lists Bacong West and Bacong East as separate slope and wall entries with 25 m figures, and its 2025 Scubaverse profile lists both; Diveity holds a separate Bacong West record. Which section the sources above describe is not established here.
