About This Dive Site
Bang Og South is a dive site shown on Sunset Cove Beach & Dive Resort’s map of the Romblon area. This partial guide uses the site name and position from that map. The location has not been independently confirmed by a local diver.
The operator lists Bang Og Forest and Bang Og South separately. Broader Bangug Island or Bang Og labels do not establish aliases or site boundaries.
Current access, entry arrangements, depth limits, currents, visibility and seasonal conditions remain unconfirmed for this record. The operator’s training labels do not establish safe conditions for a particular dive. Confirm the exact site and a suitable dive plan with a local operator.
What the operator publishes
Sunset Cove Beach & Dive Resort's dive-sites page, captured on 8 October 2026, lists Bang Og South as number 22 of its 22 Romblon dive sites. The table gives '8–25m' in a column headed 'Max Depth', so the figure is the operator's published range rather than a single measured maximum, and the level badge reads 'Open Water'. The same figures appear in the page's embedded map data. A Wayback Machine snapshot of the page dated 19 May 2026 carries the same name, range and level, so the entry has been stable for at least that period.
The page says all 22 sites are accessible by banca directly from Sunset Cove and that most sites are a 5 to 30-minute boat ride from the resort's private beach on Alad Island; it does not publish a boat time for Bang Og South specifically. It describes the guides as SDI-certified.
Earlier use of the name
A trip blog by PSC Diving, a dive shop in Kyoto, published on 18 July 2019 and modified on 6 December 2019, lists 'Bang OG South' as dive one on 3 July 2019 in its Romblon dive log. The log lists Seahorse Hotel as dive two and Sunset Cove House Reef as dive three on the same day. The group was hosted by Romblon Fun Divers & Inn in Romblon town. Because Bluewater describes Romblon Fun Divers as Sunset Cove's sister company, this is the same operator lineage rather than independent corroboration; it does show the name in use by July 2019. The blog's photographs and species notes are trip-wide and are not assigned to this dive.
Bangug Island names used by others
In the operator's table the site is the last entry, immediately after Bang Og Forest, number 21, and both Bang Og entries carry the same range and level.
Other sources describe a Bangug Island near Bonbon Beach under their own names. The Three P Holiday & Dive Resort's diving page, captured on 7 October 2026, calls Bangug 'a small island located near Bonbon Beach' with a gentle slope of soft corals and coral-covered rocks where it looks for nudibranchs and shrimp. An underwaterphotography.com location entry for 'Bangug Island, Romblon' describes a reef running parallel to the island, a start at 2 metres and a maximum of 20 metres, reached in 15 to 20 minutes from Romblon Town or Lonos. X-Ray Mag's 'Romblon: Macro Magic' article by Scott Bennett describes a finger of sand from Bon Bon Beach that lets visitors walk across to Bangug Island at low tide. None of these sources uses the name Bang Og South or the spelling 'Bang Og', and whether they describe the same island or the same reef as this record is not established here.
