About This Dive Site
BonBon Reef is a dive site shown on Sunset Cove Beach & Dive Resort’s map of the Romblon area. This partial guide uses the site name and position from that map. The location has not been independently confirmed by a local diver.
Bonbon Beach is a different source name with a point about 290 m away in the historical review. Its relationship to BonBon Reef is unconfirmed; details about the beach may not apply to this dive site.
Current access, entry arrangements, depth limits, currents, visibility and seasonal conditions remain unconfirmed for this record. The operator’s training labels do not establish safe conditions for a particular dive. Confirm the exact site and a suitable dive plan with a local operator.
What the operator publishes
Sunset Cove Beach & Dive Resort's dive-sites page, captured on 8 October 2026, lists BonBon Reef as number 20 of its 22 Romblon dive sites. The table gives '8–25m' in a column headed 'Max Depth', so the figure is the operator's published range rather than a single measured maximum, and the level badge reads 'Open Water'. The same figures appear in the page's embedded map data. A Wayback Machine snapshot of the page dated 19 May 2026 carries the same name, range and level, so the entry has been stable for at least that period.
The page says all 22 sites are accessible by banca directly from Sunset Cove and that most sites are a 5 to 30-minute boat ride from the resort's private beach on Alad Island; it does not publish a boat time for BonBon Reef specifically. It summarises the set as 'Depths 2m–45m' with five Advanced sites and describes the guides as SDI-certified. The resort's home page states that its divemasters maintain a 1:2 guide ratio. Bluewater Dive Travel's resort page, captured the same day, says the dive centre is operated by Romblon Fun Divers, the resort's sister company, which offers two to three dives per day trip from 9:00 am with lunch at the resort between the second and third dive.
Bonbon names used by others
In the operator's table the site sits between Gorgonian Garden, number 19, and Bang Og Forest, number 21. The Three P Holiday & Dive Resort's diving page, captured on 7 October 2026, lists Romblon Island sites it calls Bonbon Beach, Bonbon Fan Coral Collection and Bonbon Sea Grass Valley, and a Bangug Island site 'located near Bonbon Beach'. X-Ray Mag's 'Romblon: Macro Magic' article by Scott Bennett describes Bon Bon Beach as a surface-interval stop with a finger of sand that lets visitors walk across to Bangug Island at low tide. Sunset Cove's own home page lists the 'BonBon Beach sandbar' among its island-tour destinations, not among its dive sites. None of these sources uses the name BonBon Reef, and whether any of Three P's Bonbon sites coincides with this record is not established here. Three P's 'deep dive site' description and its pygmy seahorse, nudibranch and cowrie mentions belong to its Bonbon Fan Coral Collection and are not transferred to BonBon Reef.
