About This Dive Site
Coconut Point on Apo Island
Coconut Point and Cogon Point are separate entries in the Atlantis and Mahi Mahi dive-site guides. Keep both names distinct when comparing trips: a description or photograph labelled Cogon should not automatically be treated as evidence for Coconut. Master Liveaboards places Coconut on the island's northwestern tip, while Diveplanit's account describes a dive beginning in the north and continuing along the western reef.
Reef terrain and reported wildlife
Master Liveaboards describes a coral slope, a rock wall and a sandy channel between cliffs. Diveplanit's first-person account adds sandy ground, coral gardens, ledges and gutters, with a guided descent to 25 metres. This gives a picture of varied terrain along one reported route rather than a surveyed boundary for the whole site.
Diveplanit reports garden eels, shrimp gobies, trevally, sea kraits and turtles during that dive. Its account is undated, so these observations should not be read as recent sightings or a promise of what your group will encounter. No sighting frequency or species season has been established by this update.
What the depth numbers mean
Diveplanit's overview labels the top as 15 metres and the bottom as 30 metres. The existing 15-metre summary value comes from that single source. These figures describe the publisher's site overview; they do not establish the depth of every entry, exit or possible route. The narrative's 25-metre dive is a separate observation, not an alternative maximum. Ask your operator for the planned depth and route instead of using the overview as a personal depth recommendation.
Current and trip planning
Mahi Mahi calls Coconut the washing machine and describes strong currents and experienced-diver suitability. That warning is useful planning context, but it supplies neither a current forecast nor a formal certification prerequisite. The descriptions of shelter between rocks do not guarantee a safe refuge in the conditions of your visit.
Confirm whether Coconut is planned for your date, how the boat will collect the group and which experience requirements the operator applies. A booking for Apo Island does not establish that this particular site will be visited. Visibility, water temperature, seasonal suitability and current strength remain unverified for the day of your dive.
Source limits and corrections
This partial guide was reviewed on 1 October 2026 using published accounts, without local-diver verification of this update. The existing map point is unchanged and is not a navigation instruction. Use the correction link to share dated observations, a route clarification or evidence about the site's naming.
Bongo Bongo’s Coconut Point profile lists 24 metres as its maximum, differing from Diveplanit’s 30-metre overview. These operator and publisher profiles remain separate descriptions, not a resolved site-wide boundary or a reason to average their depths.
