Prepare for a truly dramatic dive experience at Entalula Wall, one of El Nido's most captivating dive sites. This stunning limestone wall plunges from a vibrant, shallow coral-garden shelf into the depths of Bacuit Bay, offering a diverse and exciting underwater adventure for divers of varying certifications.

Dive Site Features

The dive site begins with a beautiful shallow coral-garden shelf, typically found between 3 to 10 meters, teeming with life. As we descend, divers will discover a magnificent wall adorned with breathtaking soft corals, delicate sea whips, and colorful sea fans swaying gently in the variable current. Along the face of the wall, divers will find numerous overhangs and intriguing cracks that form small caves, perfect for exploration and discovering hidden critters. The wall ultimately drops to a sandy bottom at a maximum depth of around 35 meters.

Marine Life Encounters

Entalula Wall is a vibrant hub of marine biodiversity. In the shallow terraces, divers can regularly encounter several species of anemonefish, including the vibrant Clark's Anemonefish (Amphiprion clarkii), nestled amongst their host anemones. As we follow the wall deeper, keep a keen eye out for the elusive Ornate Ghost Pipefish (Solenostomus paradoxus), often camouflaged among the corals. The cracks and ledges are a macro photographer's dream, revealing an array of assorted Nudibranchs (Nudibranchia spp.), crabs, and shrimps.

Looking out into the open blue, divers are frequently rewarded with sightings of majestic Hawksbill Turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata) cruising gracefully. We may also spot schools of hunting Yellowfin Tuna (Thunnus albacares), and the distinctive Clown Triggerfish (Balistoides conspicillum). Other common encounters include various reef fish such as scorpionfish, groupers, boxfish, pufferfish, surgeonfish, angelfish, bannerfish, parrotfish, trumpetfish, sweetlips, and snapper. Lucky divers might even spot bluespotted stingrays or occasional eagle rays.

Diving Conditions

• Depth: The dive site offers a range from a shallow shelf at 3 meters down to a maximum depth of 35 meters.
• Current: Currents at Entalula Wall are variable, adding an exciting dynamic to the dive.
• Water Temperature: Divers can expect comfortable water temperatures, typically ranging from 24°C to 30°C, though it can occasionally reach 33°C in shallow areas during the warmer months.
• Visibility: Visibility at this dive site is generally good, often ranging from 10 to 30 meters, with the best conditions typically found from March through June.
• Best Light: The dramatic ambiance of the wall is particularly enhanced when the light hits around late morning, typically around 11 am, depending on the season.

Certification and Safety

Entalula Wall is suitable for divers with varying levels of experience. An Open Water certification is sufficient for exploring the vibrant shallow shelf, while an Advanced Open Water certification is recommended to fully appreciate the deeper sections of the wall. We advise divers to be mindful of the potential hazards, including the varying depths and occasional boat traffic in the area. Always follow your instructor's guidance and maintain proper buoyancy control, especially when exploring the deeper wall sections and small caves.
