Golden Rock
Acerca de este sitio de buceo
Overview
Golden Rock is a reef site in the Amed area of north-east Bali. Dive Concepts describes a sloping site where large oceanic animals can be met, more readily as the current strengthens, and says it takes only experienced divers there. PADI's dive guide lists it under Amed as a drift, reef and wall site, on a page credited to its member Amed White Sand Divers.
Location
PADI gives the position -8.37480, 115.70917, which is the point used here. No second source gives a position, so the point rests on PADI alone. It lies about 45 metres offshore of the OpenStreetMap coastline, about 1.5 kilometres south-east of the Japanese Shipwreck record and about 2.7 kilometres north of the Gili Selang record.
How the site is dived
Dive Concepts calls it a multi-level dive that can be an exploration, a drift or a deep dive, depending on what divers want. It says the current can change during the dive and runs from medium to strong, so divers need to be able to adapt. Neither source says whether the site is reached by boat or from the shore, so this record leaves the entry unknown.
Depth
Dive Concepts says the site is open between 5 and 35 metres, depending on how far divers follow the descending slope. The same page also shows a figure of 30 metres without saying what it measures. PADI gives no depth.
Marine life
Dive Concepts reports fish schools of midnight snappers, fusiliers and trevallies, and clown triggerfish, with whip coral on the slope and large coral fans. PADI's page lists sharks, whales, dolphins and turtles as common sightings. These are the sources' general statements; neither gives how often anything is seen.
