About This Dive Site
Shark Diving Philippines lists Lapus Lapus East in its San Miguel Island group in its Donsol and Ticao diving account.
This guide concerns the Ticao listing, not the similarly named Lapus Lapus dive site at Malapascua. The source distinguishes an eastern and western site; this record does not cover the western one.
Location unresolved: No source coordinate has been admitted for this partial guide. It has no map marker or navigation point.
Depth, current strength, visibility, seasonal conditions, access arrangements and diver suitability remain unknown in this partial guide. Confirm the intended site and a suitable dive plan with a local operator. No local-diver verification has been recorded.
What the operator lineage says
Lapus Lapus East was described on the Ticao Island Resort "Dive spots" page archived by the Wayback Machine on 1 December 2010, which listed it under San Miguel Island without a single depth figure. Compared with its western twin, the resort said, Lapus Lapus East has a steep slope and goes down to an average depth of 20 metres. It said the bigger animals hang out here, that facing away from the wall a diver may glimpse pelagics such as tuna and mackerel, and that the site also has its share of critters such as nudibranchs and camouflaged animals like the frogfish. The Shark Diving Philippines travel page captured in October 2026 and Bicol Dive Center's San Miguel Island page archived on 30 May 2023 both repeat this description almost word for word, so the three are one lineage.
The same 2010 page described the western twin, Lapus Lapus West, at 16 metres as a gradual slope with soft coral draping the rocks, where squid and cuttlefish eggs may be found between rock and coral, along with nudibranchs and Spanish dancers. That contrast is the only published basis for calling the eastern site the steeper of the two.
The San Miguel group
The 2010 resort page placed San Miguel on the northern part of the main Ticao Island, about 45 minutes by boat from Manta Bowl, with several very different dive sites around it. A resort page archived on 18 March 2013 spoke of about 12 discovered dive sites there, known for coral cover and macro critters; the resort's live site captured in October 2026 counts 17 sites around the San Miguel and Udoc islets, 40 to 55 minutes from the resort. Bicol Dive Center's 2023 page counts 18 discovered sites, and Big Fins Dive Center's page archived on 28 September 2020 counted 16, at 45 minutes to an hour from its base. The counts differ by operator and date and are not reconciled here.
Unresolved points
No operator or directory has published a coordinate for this site that this guide can admit; the Reefwander directory page captured in October 2026 labels its position approximate and cites only the Shark Diving Philippines text. Visibility, current strength and season remain unpublished for the site itself.
