Mainit

About This Dive Site
A drift dive along a sloping reef on the Dauin coast, named for "mainit" (Filipino: hot) after the patches of warm yellow sand near the end of the dive — a byproduct of runoff from the region's Mt Talinis geothermal hot springs. Schools of barracuda and Spanish mackerel cruise the drift line, while the sandy stretch hides snake eels. The most current-driven, advanced site on this stretch of coast, with occasional strong currents demanding solid buoyancy control.
