About This Dive Site

Archived accounts describe a steep reef drop-off extending from Kevin's Reef. Easy Diving's retained listing gives both 15–35 metres and 5–33 metres. The depth range is disputed, and the site's name does not establish manta sightings.

This is a partial site guide based on retained dive listings. Conditions, access, seasonal suitability and current operating arrangements have not been checked by a local diver. The map position comes from a published dive-site dataset and should be confirmed with a local operator before planning a visit.

Fan corals on the drop-off

Easy Diving’s account, preserved in a 2025 archive, highlights fan corals along Manta Drop. This is a historical description of the wall’s coral cover, not a current reef survey. It does not resolve the listing’s conflicting depth ranges or add evidence of manta sightings.

Three operators, several depth figures

Easy Diving's dive-sites page, archived in April 2014 and May 2025, describes a "fantastic drop off from 15 to 35 meters" while its chart entry reads "5-33m"; both figures appear on the same page, so the record keeps the range as disputed. Artistic Diving's 2009 English list repeats the 15-to-35 wording and adds that "sometimes you can see Mantas and Tuna going over the reef plateau". Artistic Diving's own prose, archived in October 2019, calls Manta Drop "the extended reef arm of Kevin's Reef", about five minutes from its base, where "you dive along a fantastic wall that drops to 30 meters", and says turtles are also to be found; its introduction recalls an eagle ray at "Mantadrop". Takatuka Divers' archived lists call it "a mesmerizing slope with fishes and corals in abundance" where "you may even come across a turtle now and then", with "5 - 33 meters" in the November 2004 snapshot and "5 - 31 meters" in the July 2008 snapshot; Zentacle's directory record relays the same Takatuka sentence with "5 - 35 meters". Those are the operators' published ranges in different years, not a measured profile.

A 2023 visit and the name

Diving Squad, a blog by a PADI instructor who dived Sipalay in 2023 and whose page was last modified in September 2026, calls Manta Drop "a popular drop-off" at 15 to 35 metres "with many huge sea fans and other hard corals" plus "scores of reef fish and occasional turtle sightings". On the name, the same page says "very lucky scuba divers sometimes see manta rays here" but that "it is by no means guaranteed and it's more likely that you won't see one than you will". DivePlanner Pro's listing of sites reachable from Easy Diving Sipalay labels Manta Drop "Advanced", while Zentacle grades it "beginner"; the two directory labels are not reconciled here.
