About This Dive Site
Maris Rock is a named dive site in Puerto Princesa Bay, Palawan. PADI lists it, REEF records the site name, and an Aggressor dive log separately names it.
This is a Puerto Princesa Bay dive site, not a Honda Bay island-hopping stop. The point comes from a third-party PADI listing and is approximate, not a surveyed entry or navigation waypoint. Confirm the intended site and current conditions with a local operator.
This partial guide does not establish depth, current, visibility, access, seasonal conditions or diver suitability. No local-diver verification has been recorded for this guide.
What PADI's listing says
PADI's Maris Rock page, read on 8 October 2026, describes a vibrant underwater landscape with coral formations and an abundance of marine life, including colorful fish, sea turtles and occasional reef sharks. It says divers explore a gentle slope that starts at around 10 meters and descends to deeper waters, and calls the site ideal for divers of all levels and renowned for clear visibility. The listing gives boat entry, a maximum depth of 82 feet or 25 meters, useful training of PADI Open Water Diver, and mantis shrimp and crocodile fish as common sightings. The listing does not name its contributor, and this guide does not adopt its statements as established conditions.
A dated liveaboard visit
The Philippines Aggressor adventure log for the trip beginning 14 March 2026 lists Maris Rock in Puerto Princesa as the first dive of Sunday, 15 March, followed by Reye's Reef and Red Cliff. The log calls Maris Rock a site renowned for its incredible macro life and lists nudibranchs, mantis shrimp, octopus, flatworms, pipefish, porcelain crabs, jawfish, turtles and ghost pipefish among the reef. PADI's text emphasizes turtles and reef sharks while the log emphasizes macro life; the two emphases are not reconciled here, and one dated visit is not a frequency of sightings.
REEF's zone list
REEF's zone list for the Puerto Princesa area lists Maris Rock first among five named sites, with Silica Reef, Finger Reef, Badjao Reef and Red Cliff, and marks each as having coordinates. It records names only.
A February 2015 dive log
A personal dive blog, REEF DIVE, posted on 8 March 2015 the log of its dive number 255, made at Maris Rock in Puerto Princesa on 14 February 2015 with Moana Dive Center. It records a maximum depth of 21 m, an average of 11.8 m, 66 minutes, visibility of 10-20 m and a sea temperature of +28C; that is one diver's profile on one day, not a site range. The photo captions show a small lionfish, a sea cucumber, a blue-spotted stingray hiding under the sand, a jawfish, a mantis shrimp, a crocodilefish and a very small nudibranch, and the writer saw a turtle near the end. He says he had dived the place "many, many times" and that crocodile fishes "are not so common in Puerto Princesa area". It was the second dive of the day, after a site called Crossing, and he counted three turtles over the day.
