About This Dive Site

Pygmy House, Anda

Pygmy House is an Anda dive site where the named operator account describes sandy slopes, reef walls and sea fans. The mix gives the guide a focus beyond its seahorse name: the reviewed sources also report small animals on other parts of the reef and sand. Those reports are not current sighting guarantees.

Sea fans and other habitats

Magic Oceans' contribution to PADI associates pygmy seahorses with the sea fans and describes turtle cleaning activity, nudibranchs, crabs and orangutan crabs. The operator's own seahorse article separately names Pygmy House as a place where it reports Bargibant pygmy seahorses. That supports an attributed operator report, not independent verification of a species or its present abundance.

Magic Oceans' site sheet describes slope and wall terrain with macro photography interest. It lists shrimp, nudibranchs, frogfish and mushroom-coral pipefish. The sheet, operator article and PADI contribution share an origin, so their overlap should not be counted as three separate wildlife surveys.

A visitor's account

Nigel Marsh's August 2023 Diveplanit feature reports xeno crabs, fingered dragonets and a Pegasus seamoth at Pygmy House. Cath Bates' May 2023 Scubaverse article also names Pygmy House and Seahorse Point in its discussion of pygmy seahorses on sea fans. These accounts add context for close-up photography, but do not establish that every listed animal occurs at every nearby site or on each dive.

Depth and naming uncertainty

PADI lists a 30-metre maximum and boat entry. Magic Oceans' sheet gives 20 metres in a general depth column, without defining that number as the site's maximum. Ask which slope or wall section is planned; do not turn either listing into a required depth for your dive.

The retained PADI point is about 36 metres from a directory point named Flower Beach Resort House Reef. Their relationship remains unresolved. This guide does not confirm an alias, separate reef boundaries or access through that resort, and the existing map position is unchanged.

The exact entry arrangements, current strength, visibility, temperature extremes, seasonal conditions and minimum qualification remain unverified. Confirm these with the operator for the intended route. A promotional all-levels description does not establish that every part of the wall suits the same experience level.

Operator claims and a photography code

Magic Oceans' seahorse article, posted 29 June 2017 and updated in December 2018, says the Bargibanti pygmy seahorse is the resort's official logo because it can be spotted on a few of its sites, naming Wonderwall, Lumayag Point and Bacong West before adding that at Pygmy House they are pretty common. The article also admits its divers sometimes need a magnifying glass to see them close up. That is operator promotion from 2017, not a current count.

Cath Bates' Scubaverse guest blog of 26 May 2023 adds that the pink Bargibanti and yellowish Denise pygmy seahorses, no bigger than 2.7 centimetres, are protected by a Pygmy Seahorse Code of Conduct displayed in good dive centres, and places Anda's dive sites between 5 and 45 minutes from a resort house reef. Ask the guide how that code is applied before photographing a sea fan here.

PADI's structured listing tags the site as drift, wall and ocean diving, and Scubaverse's July 2025 profile of Magic Oceans Dive Resort lists Pygme house, a variant spelling, sixteenth among 27 numbered sites. The drift tag is a category label and does not establish current strength on a given day.
