Divers will find a gentle sandy slope that transitions into a vibrant coral reef, adorned with soft corals and scattered bommies, providing ample habitat for fascinating creatures.

Diving Conditions and Topography

• Difficulty: Intermediate
• Depth: The dive site typically ranges from shallower areas to a maximum depth of 30 m. While many popular muck diving sections remain considerably shallower, often within 15 m, deeper sections are accessible for those with appropriate certification.
• Current: Divers can expect mild currents, making for relaxed critter hunting.
• Water Temperature: The water temperature in Dauin generally ranges from 26°C to 29°C, providing comfortable diving conditions year-round.
• Site Types: San Miguel offers a captivating blend of muck diving and reef diving. The site features extensive sandy slopes, seagrass beds, and healthy coral patches. An interesting artificial reef section, composed of old tires, has become a thriving habitat for various species.

Certification and Safety

An Open Water certification is required to dive San Miguel, but an Advanced Open Water certification is highly recommended, particularly if divers plan to explore beyond 20 m to fully appreciate the site's deeper features. While currents are generally mild, we recommend maintaining good buoyancy control to avoid stirring up the volcanic sand, which can reduce visibility for fellow divers and photographers. Divers should also be aware of potential boat traffic in the general area, though many Dauin dive sites are protected marine sanctuaries.
