About This Dive Site

Snappers in Anda

Snappers, also described in operator accounts as Snappers Cave or Snapper's Cave, is a wall-and-cave dive on the Anda coast of Bohol. The cave feature gives the site a distinctive reference point, but the surrounding reef and an overhead route are different choices to discuss before diving.

Wall, crevices and cave feature

Master Liveaboards' Southern Leyte and Visayas itinerary describes a steep wall reaching about 30 metres, with a broad cave near its lower part. Its named-site account highlights crevices and overhangs with nudibranchs and leopard shrimp, alongside reports of reef squid, banded sea kraits and turtles.

Bernds Liveaboard describes a wall from roughly 4 to 30 metres and a cave feature around 27 metres. Magic Oceans' site sheet gives 25 metres in a general depth column. These are operator descriptions with different levels of detail; the sheet's number is not explicitly a surveyed maximum or a cave-entry depth. Confirm which feature and section the planned route actually visits.

A dated dive report

A Philippines Aggressor II trip log records a dive at Snapper's Cave in Anda on December 2, 2025. The crew reported schooling snappers in the cavern, together with turtles, frogfish and electric clams. This provides a dated account of that outing, not evidence that the same animals are present now.

Magic Oceans also lists snappers, turtles, nudibranchs and leopard shrimp and identifies both macro and wide-angle photography interests. The reports suggest a mix of small subjects and larger reef scenes. Encounter frequency and independent species verification remain unknown.

Choosing the appropriate dive

Ask the operator whether the proposed dive stays outside overhead features, what depth is planned and what training or experience it requires. A site's name or an account of another group's cave visit is not confirmation that cave entry is part of your dive or appropriate for your qualification.

Current strength, visibility, water-temperature range, seasonal conditions and exact access arrangements remain unverified in this guide. The review preserves the existing site identity and does not independently establish a new entry point or a complete surveyed depth profile.

A visitor's account of the wall

Lakwatsero's named Snapper Cave report describes overhangs and crevices along a colourful wall. The writer reports two yellow frogfish, gorgonians of different colours and a school of squid during the outing. These are observations from that visit, not a present-day animal count.

The group reports drifting with the current and finishing at Paradise Garden for its safety stop after a 62-minute dive. This connects two named places within that particular operator-led outing; it does not establish a permanent current direction, a standard duration or a route suitable for another group. Ask which wall section an advertised Snappers trip covers rather than assuming it repeats that visitor's itinerary.

Hazards & Safety

Be aware of these potential hazards at this dive site

Current

Severity: Low

Gentle tidal flow along the Anda wall; usually mild but can pick up on incoming tide — easy to manage

Depth

Severity: Medium

Wall drops past 30 m; macro hunters working the gorgonians can drift deeper while tracking pygmy seahorses — set a depth alarm

Dangerous marine life

Severity: Low

Banded sea kraits present in reef crevices — observe from a distance; do not handle
