What the sources say about Tagbaobo
PADI's dive-site page for Tagbaobo, fetched in October 2026, describes "a pristine dive site known for its crystal-clear waters and healthy coral reefs" with "colorful coral gardens" where divers may encounter "sea turtles, schools of fish, and rare nudibranchs". It gives a maximum depth of 25 meters, says the site "is accessible by boat", lists the entry as boat and the dive type as ocean, names PADI Advanced Open Water Diver as useful training, and suggests a dive computer and surface marker buoy. The listed position is 7.00626, 125.78942, the point this guide uses. The page is a catalogue description and its figures have not been confirmed locally.
The one dated independent mention found treats Tagbaobo as a place on land reached by road, and concerns a shore dive near it rather than a boat site. A ScubaBoard post of January 26, 2007 in a Samal Island thread said, "If you know someone who has a 4WD SUV a shore dive is possible at the Libud Marine Sanctuary near Tagbaobo (1 hr drive from the ferry)". Whether that sanctuary shore dive and PADI's boat-access Tagbaobo are the same reef has not been established by this review; the place name is location context, not confirmation of the site.
The DivePlanner Pro aggregator page calls Tagbaobo "a beginner-friendly dive site along the Davao Gulf coastline" with "a sheltered reef", which differs from PADI's naming of Advanced Open Water training as useful; the aggregator mirrors PADI's depth figure and is treated here as derivative, so the difference is noted rather than resolved. No dated dive log or operator profile for Tagbaobo itself was found in this review.
