The Hill

About This Dive Site
The Hill is exactly that — an isolated coral mound in the inner bay rising to about 5 metres and sloping away on every side to a sandy, rubble-strewn floor around 15. The crown is dense with coral heads, sponges and pink soft coral; the skirt of sand is where the dive actually happens. Guides here work slowly, turning up hairy frogfish, leaf scorpionfish, juvenile cuttlefish, octopus and a steady parade of nudibranchs, and the site has a resident mandarinfish population that performs at dusk. Sheltered and shallow, it suits novices and photographers, though a badly timed tide can put unexpected current across the mound.
