Overview
Raja Ampat Biodiversity Nature Resort names Sawandarek, Aborek and Yenbuba Jetty as the three jetties in the Dampier Strait with the most biodiversity, which together form what it calls the three jetty Raja Ampat tour. Papua Diving calls it an easy dive with a lot to offer, lists it as 5 minutes away by boat, and describes the jetty as sheltering big schools of fish and soft corals, with the reef sloping away into the deep in front of it. It describes Yenbuba Jetty as a good night dive as well as a day dive. PADI's page for the site, contributed by Meridian Adventure, describes schools of sergeant major fish at the jetty and a slope down to a sandy bottom where blue-spotted stingrays may be encountered.
Marine life
Raja Ampat Biodiversity Nature Resort reports many fish species, a good chance of close encounters with turtles, schooling barracuda on the point and wide fields of staghorn and cabbage corals. A Wannadive.net contributor reports barracudas, sharks and turtles from the jetty, as well as cuttlefish and a cometfish.
Conditions and level
Raja Ampat Biodiversity Nature Resort describes the site as protected and suited to beginners and to divers who have not dived for a few years, with any current running left to right or the reverse as a gentle drift. The resort lists the current as none to mild, and the Wannadive.net entry rates it low, under 1 knot. The sources agree on the maximum depth: the resort lists 2 to 25 metres, PADI's page gives 25 metres, and the Wannadive.net entry gives 25 metres with an average of 15 metres. The Wannadive.net entry reports good visibility of 10 to 30 metres and access by boat and from shore. Papua Diving rates it beginner to intermediate and snorkel friendly, and the Wannadive.net entry gives the experience level as CMAS one star or Open Water.
