Sogod Bay (Pintuyan / Padre Burgos)

A long, deep bay cutting into Southern Leyte that fronts directly onto the Philippine Trench, delivering both sheltered muck diving at Padre Burgos and dramatic outer walls (Napantao, Limasawa, Tangkaan) draped in giant gorgonians and pygmy seahorses. Nov–early May, whale sharks aggregate off Pintuyan / Son-ok on Panaon Island for plankton — interaction is snorkel-only under the KASAKA fishermen’s-association protocol since 2009, in deliberate contrast to fed-shark Oslob.
