A strikingly patterned angelfish — vivid yellow body with a black rear "saddle" — that forages alone or in pairs on sponges tucked into reef crevices, its main dietary staple. Juveniles are almost entirely yellow with a blue-ringed black spot near the tail, gradually developing the adult pattern as they mature.
