Batu Bolong

A tiny holed rock breaking the surface of the Linta Strait conceals one of the world’s great pinnacle dives. Batu Bolong’s tower drops past 70m into the channel, every centimetre carpeted in hard corals, sponges and clouds of orange anthias so dense they dim the view. Sheltering on the lee side at slack tide, divers zig-zag up from ~30m past hunting giant trevally, whitetip reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse, turtles munching sponges, and morays in every crevice. Currents are legendary — and so is the fish soup they feed.
