About This Dive Site

Angels Cove, Talikud Island

Angels Cove is a named dive area at Talikud Island in Davao Gulf. PADI's guide, credited to South Shore Divers, describes a sloping reef and sandy patches with garden eels. Scubago's named entry describes boat access and a relatively confined area connected to a wall. These accounts support a useful overview, but they do not establish that every route has the same depth or suitability.

Choose the route, not just the site name

The PADI account describes a 5–20 m reef profile. An archived Davao Scuba Dive Center page captured in January 2014 places Angels Cove near Mansud Wall on southwest Talikud and discusses deeper diving, including a recommendation for advanced divers. That historical description and the shallow profile should not be combined into one promised dive. Scubago also mentions deep-diver training associated with the wall. Ask the operator which part of the area is planned and what recent experience it requires.

What to look for

PADI reports moray eels, lionfish and reef fish around the reef, with garden eels on sand. The archived operator describes a sandy bottom with hard and soft corals. Treat these as attributed accounts rather than guaranteed sightings or a current ecological survey. A quiet photography route and a deeper wall visit can involve different plans even when sold under the same familiar name.

Location and conditions

The existing map marker has an explicit entry-point uncertainty note: a contributed PADI point differs from it. Preserve that distinction when arranging a boat trip, and confirm the actual entry and recovery locations with the operator. This guide does not establish present-day current strength, reliable visibility, departure availability or a universal qualification rule. Historical descriptions of calm conditions are not a forecast for your dive.

A snorkeler's view of the coral formations

A Lakingdavao account published in January 2019 describes repeated family boat outings around Talikud, with Angels Cove and Coral Garden treated as separate stops. At Angels Cove, the writer noticed coral formations resembling small mountains while looking through a snorkel. The family generally spent 30–45 minutes swimming there before continuing their island trip. This is a surface visitor's perspective rather than a description of the deeper wall dive.

The writer found the water comfortable on those visits and contrasted that experience with motion sickness elsewhere. The account does not supply dated current measurements or establish conditions below the snorkeling area. Its useful distinction is the setting: people viewing the coral formations from above may be experiencing a different part of Angels Cove from divers booking a deeper route. Confirm which activity and reef section your trip includes.
