Arthur's Rock

About This Dive Site
A reef listed by a nearby operator
The Asri identifies Arthur’s Rock as its house reef south of Eagle Point. Its notes give an average of 33 feet (about 10 m) and maximum of 70 feet (about 21 m).
Understand the limits of the listing
Those figures describe the operator’s listing, not a surveyed boundary or the depth of every possible route. The page has brief notes rather than a detailed dive description. Confirm access, the intended route and conditions when arranging a visit.
Details still needed
This partial guide does not establish site-specific seasonal temperatures, typical visibility or recent wildlife encounter rates. A regional species list cannot resolve those gaps.
Another operator's reef-life account
Solitude World reports nudibranchs, snappers and groupers in its Arthur's Rock account. Its heading also names a route toward Dead Palm; this guide does not establish that the two names identify one site. The reported animals are a viewing interest, not dated sightings or a guaranteed encounter.
Small walls beyond the shallow reef
Michael McFadyen's October 2025 account describes starting beside a mooring over coral in roughly 6 m, then descending a gradual slope to about 24 m. Beyond the slope he encountered a sequence of small walls separated by sand and coral rubble. The account gives a more varied picture than a single isolated rock: a visitor should ask whether the proposed dive stays around the shallow reef or includes those deeper formations.
That 24 m route is deeper than the approximately 21 m maximum in The Asri's listing above. The sources do not establish a matching surveyed boundary, so the two figures are retained as different descriptions. This addition does not overwrite the structured depth value or resolve the extent of the site. A route recorded by another diver is not a recommendation to reach the same depth.
Looking at the reef at different scales
McFadyen describes small gorgonians on the walls and reports moray eels, mantis shrimps, nudibranchs and shrimps during the dives. These smaller subjects contrast with his observations of a turtle in the shallows and an octopus in the open. They are dated reports, not a claim that the same animals occupy fixed stations today.
His return crossed above the walls toward the mooring, finishing among shallow coral outcrops. He reports clearer water deeper than in the shallows across his two dives. That distinction is worth discussing for photography planning, while preserving the source's limited observation period rather than treating its experience as a dependable visibility range for every visit.
The report gives 28°C water and deeper visibility observations spanning about 12–18 m across those October dives, with poorer visibility shallower. These are conditions attached to two visits, not annual averages or a promised photography window.
