Profile reported by the operator over time

A blog that links to Sogod Bay Scuba Resort, in a post whose address carries a May 2007 date, gives the most detailed layout: Bunga is a small village about 7 kilometres north of Lungsodaan towards Malitbog, the site can be dived from shore or boat, a roughly 45-degree coral slope runs down to sand at about 32 metres, a rock outcrop there includes an overhang dropping to about 38 metres with gorgonian fans and midnight snappers, and in strong current a drift leads up to two large coral bommies at about 13 metres. The resort's current map data, captured on 7 October 2026, lists 5–35 metres, all levels and a 20–40 minute boat ride, calls Bunga Bend the pick of its northern sites alongside Whip City, Cantamuac and Malitbog, and names ribbon eels, nudibranchs, pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefish and mantis shrimp as highlights. The resort's 2019 listing on Bluewater Dive Travel placed the northern group 20–30 minutes away at 15–35 metres. These are one operator's figures at three dates; the 35 metre range and the 38 metre overhang are a listing figure and a feature depth, not a dispute.

A dated visit and a neighbouring guide

FeetDoTravel, who dived with Peter's Dive Resort and published in February 2019, describe Bunga Bend as another reef sloping at 45 degrees with pristine hard and soft corals and plenty of reef fish in the shallows, dived as an easy drift in medium current; their photographs from the dive show a Goniobranchus reticulatus nudibranch and a snowflake moray. Dive Happy's Sogod Bay guide, updated after an April 2024 visit, groups Bunga Bend with Max Climax and Baluarte as sites a few minutes from the house reef that share its character of a sandy slope broken by clumps of coral. Peter's Dive Resort's "Bunga to Malitbog" section covers the next fifteen kilometres north as a group with a drop-off, a deep shoal and muck diving, and notes that the more northern sites suffer siltation in heavy rain while the black sand brings rare species; that is a description of the stretch, not of Bunga Bend alone.

What to confirm

The two slope descriptions and the 2007-dated feature depths are consistent, but the shore-entry option, the whale shark the old post calls occasional, and the pygmy seahorse and frogfish sightings are historical or seasonal and should be checked on the day. Whip City, described in a separate resort-linked post as a deep shoal near Bunga Bend that needs nitrox and slack tide, is a different site and is not merged here.
