  • 15-25

    Read source context

PADI's Danao Wall page indicates the wall drops to over 60 meters, but also states that most divers stick to shallower depths of around 15-25 meters. Scubago states the wall drops beyond 60m, and then specifies most dives stay around 15-25m. This creates an ambiguity regarding the actual maximum depth typically explored or safely accessible, and whether 'beyond 60m' refers to a true maximum recreational depth or merely the geological extent of the wall.

About This Dive Site

A wall with adjoining sand

Seaquest describes Danao Wall as a Panglao reef outing with a wall, an overhang and sandy areas with coral heads. Frontier Tech Divers also names Danao Wall as a training location. Its description of a sandy reef top and wall supplies practical context without establishing that every route has the same depth or suitability.

Route depth is not the whole wall’s extent

Seaquest lists a 3–20 m dive range. Frontier describes a wall from 6–25 m and a sandy training area at 8 m. Earlier references in this listing discuss a wall extending beyond 60 m. Those are different kinds of claims: the route ranges do not establish a precise maximum for the whole feature or a universal depth plan.

Clarify the actual qualification requirement

The earlier qualification dispute incorrectly treated acceptance of higher certifications as contradicting a minimum certification. That is not a valid contradiction. The reviewed evidence still does not establish one universal requirement for every route, so confirm the planned depth, environment and experience expected by the operator.

What the source accounts can tell you

The named operators describe reef terrain and marine life, but those descriptions are not a current sighting report or an encounter probability. This partial guide leaves the broader depth question unresolved and avoids presenting a training route as a guarantee of easy conditions. Confirm current, visibility and entry arrangements for the actual outing.

Features reported on different parts of Danao

Seaquest's named Danao Wall account describes an unusual group of objects on sand at about 20 metres: a table, chairs and a toilet bowl. The operator reports giant frogfish around this feature and painted or warty frogfish beneath overhangs. Its description also places shrimps and crabs among coral heads on the sand beside the wall. These are reported search habitats, not confirmation that the objects remain intact or that particular animals will be present.

A separate Sierra Madre Divers log records a technical exploration on December 11, 2025, published six days later. The team used diver propulsion vehicles beyond the further end of Danao Wall, reaching 51.5 metres. They described scattered reef patches well away from the wall and a large soft-coral patch around 30 metres between the areas. This is evidence for a particular deeper exploration, distinct from the shallower wall routes described above. The logged depth is not a recreational route recommendation or a newly established maximum for Danao, and the distant patches should not be assumed to lie on an ordinary wall dive.

Earlier listing: Open Water. The reviewed accounts do not establish a universal qualification for every route; acceptance of higher qualifications is not a contradiction of a minimum.
