About This Dive Site
Friday’s Rock in Boracay
Friday’s Rock is a Boracay dive site identified separately from Friday’s Reef by Scotty’s Action Sports Network and New Wave Divers. Scotty’s describes a route that can include both locations. This partial guide keeps those names distinct; it does not establish that every operator uses the same site boundary.
Rock and reef depth reports
Scotty’s reports Friday’s Reef at 7–12 m and Friday’s Rock at 12–18 m. New Wave’s site directory lists the same ranges. These are operator descriptions of the named areas, not a verified survey of the entire site. Ask which part of the route is planned rather than assuming that a shallow reef visit covers the rock.
What remains uncertain
The origin of the name and current on-site conditions have not been verified for this guide. Confirm the route and suitability with the operator before a visit. Existing uncertain fields remain labelled; this guide does not promise wildlife encounters or present an operator description as a local diver’s verification.
A compact feature with several habitats
New Wave’s named site guide describes the rock as a boulder pinnacle rising from sand, rather than an extensive continuous wall. Its account associates frogfish, scorpionfish, octopus, morays, crabs and cleaner shrimp with the structure, and rays with the surrounding sand. These are operator reports, not an inventory independently checked for this guide. The page also calls the site a fish-feeding station. That historical or promotional description does not establish that feeding is permitted or appropriate on a present visit, and this guide does not recommend it.
Look at the setting, not only the fish list
The same operator’s article dated 31 December 2024 describes hard and soft corals, sponges and sea fans on the central outcrop, with crevices and a surrounding sandy seabed. It places small puffers around crevices, fusiliers in midwater and dartfish near the sand, while also reporting camouflaged fish on the bottom. Its separate night-diving description reports crabs, lobsters and hunting scorpionfish; it does not confirm that a night outing is currently offered. These habitat distinctions explain why observations around the rock can differ from those over adjacent sand; they do not promise a particular species or encourage touching the feature.
The article gives 8–18 metres, whereas the operator’s named directory gives 12–18 metres for the rock. Its general article and directory remain one organization’s accounts, not two independent surveys. The directory also lists a 7 June 2026 outing at 18 metres for 48 minutes: a recorded dive profile is different from either published terrain range. Neither an article’s beginner-friendly language nor a compact layout establishes the conditions, supervision or suitability of a particular future visit.
