Marco Polo

About This Dive Site
Archived operator descriptions identify an offshore reef reached by a direct descent. Easy Diving's retained listing mentions both 30 metres and a 27-metre maximum; Artistic Diving describes the reef at 30 metres. The depth discrepancy remains unresolved.
Sea Explorers describes Marco Polo as a submerged, atoll-shaped reef rising from deeper water, with hard and soft corals. Its account recommends the site for experienced divers. The current page supplies no measured depth that resolves the older disagreement.
Additional operator account reviewed 3 October 2026: Sea Explorers — Sipalay dive sites. This review date is not a dive or sighting date.
This is a partial site guide based on retained dive listings. Conditions, access, seasonal suitability and current operating arrangements have not been checked by a local diver. The map position comes from a published dive-site dataset and should be confirmed with a local operator before planning a visit.

Photography around the submerged reef
Sea Explorers’ Marco Polo section emphasizes schooling reef fish around the formation and larger fish passing through surrounding open water. Its wide-angle photography recommendation concerns the overall reef scenery. The account does not identify those passing fish to species or provide encounter counts, and its promotional description of coral health is not a measured condition survey.
Separate the published profile from the dive plan
Easy Diving’s current Marco Polo entry describes a negative entry and gives 27 metres in both its prose and depth line. This updates what that operator currently publishes, while the older 30-metre references remain part of the unresolved historical evidence. It is not proof that all surrounding terrain ends at 27 metres or that every operator follows the same descent.
The operator’s reported sharks remain possibilities, without sighting dates or species identifications.
Sea Explorers’ destination overview markets Marco Polo to all levels, while its dedicated site description recommends experienced divers. These different labels from the same operator do not establish a universal minimum certification. Its overview also lists a general operational maximum of 30 metres; that is not a surveyed maximum for Marco Polo. Discuss the specific descent and planned reef section rather than treating either marketing label as an individualized assessment.
Sea Explorers lists a certification card, logbook and medical certificate among its check-in documents. Confirm the current requirements when arranging the Marco Polo outing; that operator checklist does not by itself establish suitability for the proposed dive profile.
The operator’s separate Sipalay article specifically emphasizes buoyancy and descent control at Marco Polo. It provides no fixed descent line, entry coordinate or current-direction instruction. Those details therefore remain matters for the actual briefing, rather than assumptions derived from the reef’s atoll-style description.
