North Point and neighbouring site names

North Point is a named Malapascua dive site in the Thresher Shark Divers, Exotic Island Dive Resort and Kokay's guides. Thresher Shark Divers lists North Wall separately, so this guide does not combine the two. Devocean uses the combined heading Deep Slope / North Point for a northeastern sloping reef. That naming overlap is useful when discussing a booking, but does not establish that every operator uses the same route or boundaries.

Coral, sand and rocky terrain

Kokay's describes sand and coral with large coral heads, and credits its information to Lanch of Dive Society. Exotic describes soft corals, rock formations and canyons. Thresher Shark Divers highlights a rocky overhang. These descriptions offer different views of the terrain; they are not a mapped route through an enclosed space. Ask which part of the site your operator intends to visit.

The operators report small-animal subjects including frogfish, nudibranchs and crabs. Kokay's also mentions shrimps during night dives. These are undated operator accounts rather than recent sighting records, and this guide does not guarantee an encounter or assign species identities from broad common names. A mention of night diving does not confirm that a night trip is currently available.

Reading the different depth descriptions

Exotic gives a depth range of 6–27 metres. Kokay's describes terrain between 8 and 24 metres and explicitly labels 24 metres as its maximum. Thresher Shark Divers gives 22 metres under a general depth label, while Devocean's combined Deep Slope / North Point entry gives 11–23 metres. These figures may refer to different sections or dive plans. They should not be averaged into a supposedly verified depth.

The existing 6-metre summary comes from Exotic's single-source range; this review does not establish an agreed maximum for the whole site. Confirm the planned route and depth with your operator, especially when another name is used for the booking.

Current and experience requirements

Exotic warns about strong currents, while Kokay's says currents can be strong and change direction around coral formations. These are planning warnings, not forecasts. Exotic explicitly lists Open Water as its minimum certification; Devocean describes its combined entry as appropriate for Advanced Open Water divers. Treat these as operator-specific guidance tied to the intended dive, rather than a universal suitability verdict. Ask about experience requirements and the alternative plan if conditions change.
