Scubago reports a minimum water temperature of 25°C for Rock Point West. While the existing record states 26°C as the minimum, this is still within the broader range often reported for Apo Island. However, to be more precise, Scubago indicates 25°C as the bottom/water temp.

Scubago reports a minimum water temperature of 25°C for Rock Point West. This is also supported by Tripbase which shows monthly water temperatures for Apo Island, with the lowest being 28°C in January, February, and March. Therefore, a claim of 26°C as the minimum, while within a broader range, is refuted by a source that provides a more specific minimum for the site.

About This Dive Site
Rock Point West on Apo Island: partial guide
Bongo Bongo Divers describes Rock Point West as a steep coral slope that can be dived as a drift, depending on the current. The source names the western site separately from Rock Point East, so an East-side or combined-route account should not automatically be treated as the same dive.
What the named source supports
The operator lists a maximum depth of 28 metres and reports hard and soft corals, banded sea snakes, jacks, marbled groupers and hawksbill and green turtles. The depth is an attributed operator figure rather than a surveyed whole-site limit. Wildlife reports do not establish encounter frequency, and this review does not turn them into new verified species observations.
Planning and remaining uncertainty
Bongo Bongo advertises full-day Apo Island trips from Dauin, with the actual sites selected according to conditions. Ask which western route is intended, its planned depth and current conditions. A drift description is not a fixed current-strength forecast. This single-source partial guide does not establish a certification minimum, dependable visibility range or precise entry location. Those details should be confirmed for the particular trip; previously unresolved fields remain labelled rather than being filled from general Apo Island information.
Further operator accounts of the West side
Mahi Mahi Dive Resort's undated Apo page, captured on 7 October 2026, describes Rock Point West as a steep slope that starts at 5 metres and tapers out at 20 metres, with healthy soft corals in the shallower part and large hard corals and sponges in the deeper sections, and says it can be dived in two directions depending on the current. It reports frogfish, nudibranchs and flatworms in the soft corals, large schools of trevally, snapper and groupers along the wall, and hawksbill turtles as regular visitors. Sea Explorers' Dauin dive-sites page, last modified on 2 September 2026, places Rock Point West on the southern tip of the island and says the slope starts to go down at 7 metres all the way to 30 metres, with the interesting part between 5 and 18 metres, where it reports coral formations, juvenile sweetlips, sea snakes, turtles and fire clam shells. It says current can occur but divers can easily go with it, and advises bringing inflatable signal buoys.
Depth figures do not agree
The published maxima differ: Bongo Bongo lists 28 metres, Mahi Mahi says the slope tapers out at 20 metres and Sea Explorers says it continues to 30 metres. These are three operators' own figures and are not reconciled here. Dive The World's undated page, which calls the site Rocky Point West, says many divers believe the hard-coral coverage to be the best in the Apo Island region, naming staghorn, table, mushroom and leather corals, and says the site is mostly prized for smaller creatures such as frogfish and cuttlefish, with banded sea kraits commonly seen; it also mentions mobula rays, manta rays and schools of fish as often present, a claim no other reviewed source repeats for this site. That Dive The World's Rocky Point West is the same named site is assumed from the name, not confirmed.
