What the sources say about San Jose

PADI's dive-site page for San Jose, fetched in October 2026, describes "a shallow dive site that features a sandy bottom with scattered coral formations" where divers may see "clownfish, trumpetfish, and seahorses". It gives a maximum depth of "only 15 meters", calls the site "suitable for beginners and snorkelers", lists the dive type as ocean and the entry as shore, although its description says the site "is accessible by boat"; the two are not reconciled here. PADI Open Water Diver is named as useful training, with a dive computer and surface marker buoy suggested. The listed position is 7.03540, 125.71595, the point this guide uses.

No independent description of a San Jose dive site on Samal was found in this review. The DivePlanner Pro aggregator calls it "a beginner-friendly dive site in the Davao Gulf" with "a shallow reef at fifteen meters depth" and suggests it for "training dives, discover scuba experiences", but its text mirrors PADI's data and is treated as derivative. A page about a San Jose elsewhere is not evidence for this site. Access, the shore-or-boat question and the current state of the reef remain to be confirmed with a Davao or Samal operator.
