About This Dive Site

Turtle Point in Anda

Turtle Point is a named reef-and-wall dive in Anda, Bohol. Bernds Liveaboard identifies coral habitat and turtle interest here. More specific operator and first-person accounts describe both the wall and the reef top, while encounter numbers remain variable.

Reef top and reported cleaning activity

PADI's entry, contributed by Magic Oceans Dive Resort, places the reef top around 8 metres and describes a wall extending to 40 metres. It reports pygmy seahorses, whip-coral shrimp and turtles visiting a cleaning station. These are attributed operator claims, not an independently verified survey of behaviour or a promise of sightings.

The same PADI page has a structured maximum-depth field of 30 metres. Magic Oceans' site sheet also gives 30 metres in a general depth column. The wall description and listing do not establish a single consistent maximum, so the full depth profile remains unresolved. Discuss the intended reef-top or wall route and its planned depth with the operator.

A first-person account

In a Divernet feature published in February 2018, Steve Weinman describes dives running from Wonderwall to Turtle Point. His account places pygmy seahorses near the start of that route and describes hard corals and grazing green turtles at the Turtle Point end. The early-route seahorse observation should not be reassigned to Turtle Point simply because both sites appear in the same dive story.

That historical account adds detail about the reef-top habitat and the writer's observations. It does not establish today's current, the number of turtles likely to appear, or that an operator now offers the identical route. Magic Oceans' separate site sheet lists turtles, nudibranchs and giant frogfish and highlights wide-angle photography; those are further operator reports.

Planning a visit

PADI lists boat access, but the reviewed evidence does not confirm a departure schedule or exact entry arrangement. Use the Anda locality when booking or saving the site, since other destinations also have places called Turtle Point. Existing map information has not been independently re-surveyed in this review.

Visibility, water-temperature extremes, current strength, a best-season window and a minimum qualification remain unverified. Confirm present conditions and a route suited to your experience locally. Reports of cleaning activity and grazing describe opportunities to observe wildlife; they should not be read as assurances that an animal or behaviour will appear on demand.

A separate visit recorded in 2023

In Nigel Marsh's August 2023 account, the Turtle Point outing began above hard corals before following a wall decorated with soft corals, sponges and whip corals. The guide pointed out candy crabs and a warty frogfish along that route. Returning to the shallows, the writer reported green and hawksbill turtles and a yellow-lipped sea krait. These observations add a different visit to the earlier account above; they are not a census or a promise of the same animals today.

Hazards & Safety

Be aware of these potential hazards at this dive site

Current

Severity: Medium

Tidal flow increases mid-reef; dives best as a gentle drift when current picks up — agree exit with the bangka before descending

Boat traffic

Severity: Medium

Shallow turtle-watching site draws multiple bancas simultaneously; ascend with SMB and wait for bangka to approach rather than swimming to it
