Prepare to be captivated at Snappers, a premier dive site nestled along the vibrant Anda peninsula. This intermediate-level dive offers a thrilling combination of dramatic topography and abundant marine life, making it a must-visit for certified divers.

Dive Site Features and Conditions

• Depth: Divers will explore a stunning wall and reef system that begins at approximately 4 meters and plunges past 30 meters. The maximum depth for recreational diving at this site is around 30 meters.
• Current: We typically encounter mild currents at Snappers, providing comfortable drift opportunities while allowing for patient macro observation.
• Water Temperature: The waters off Anda are consistently warm, with temperatures generally ranging between a pleasant 27°C and 30°C year-round.
• Visibility: Anda is renowned for its excellent visibility, especially during the dry season (January to April), often exceeding 20 meters.
• Certification: An Open Water certification is required to experience this dive site.
• Site Types: Snappers boasts a diverse underwater landscape, featuring impressive walls, vibrant coral reefs, and exciting drop-offs. Divers will also find fascinating overhangs and crevices that add to the site's allure. A notable feature is a wide cave section, typically found around 25-27 meters.

Marine Life Encounters

Snappers is a haven for both wide-angle enthusiasts and macro photographers. As you descend, divers will find the namesake schools of snappers congregating along the coral wall. Keep a keen eye out for the incredibly camouflaged Pygmy Seahorse (Hippocampus bargibanti), often found clinging to the intricate branches of Gorgonian Sea Fans (Annella mollis). These tiny masters of disguise are typically found between 10 and 30 meters, making the deeper sections of the wall a prime hunting ground for them.

The reef is teeming with an astonishing variety of Nudibranchs (Nudibranchia spp.), showcasing an array of colors and patterns. Divers can also encounter the fascinating Giant Frogfish (Antennarius commerson), perfectly blended into its surroundings, and observe schools of Bigfin Reef Squid (Sepioteuthis lessoniana) gracefully navigating the reef. Look out for the distinctive Banded Sea Krait (Laticauda colubrina), and we often spot majestic Hawksbill Turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata) cruising along the wall. Crabs and shrimps also add to the rich biodiversity found within the reef's many nooks and crannies.

Hazards and Recommendations

While generally a mild dive, divers should be mindful of the potential for currents and the depth of the dive site. When exploring the cave section, which is considered an overhead environment, we strongly recommend carrying a torch and maintaining excellent buoyancy control. Always dive with a knowledgeable instructor or guide who is familiar with the route. The presence of dangerous marine life, while rare, always warrants respectful observation from a safe distance.
