The operator's two descriptions

Sogod Bay Scuba Resort describes Voltaire's Rock in two places that do not agree on depth. Its current dive-site map data, captured on 7 October 2026, lists a house-reef pinnacle at 12 to 35 metres for Open Water divers and above, summarised as "A house-reef pinnacle that pulls in big fish when the current is running. Hawksbill and green turtles are regular visitors." Its blog post "Diving at Voltaires Rock", carried at a May 2007 address and republished in the blog feed on 18 May 2016, says the site is "situated just to the left of Sogod Bay Scuba Resort" with "a big outcrop starting at around 26 metres going down to 45 metres", "an excellent dive when the current is strong", hard and soft corals, fans and barrel sponges, "a nice cave at about 38 metres with groupers and sweet lips", and eagle rays and an occasional whale shark seen there. The 12 metre and 26 metre starting depths are not reconciled here.

Other named accounts

An SSI MyDiveGuide entry for "Voltaires rock" under Padre Burgos, credited to contributor Ursula J., describes a "nice shallow area between 2-10 meters and from there a slope down to 32 and more" and "plenty of big fish action when current is moving". Selsey Bill Sub Aqua Club's report for 11 March 2018, diving with Sogod Bay Scuba Resort, logged Voltaire's Rock as an afternoon dive "just off the moorings, a pleasant bimble amongst coral outcrops" with a very large frogfish. A ScubaBoard trip report of 30 December 2025 lists Voltaire's Rock among the sites dived from the same resort. Bluewater Dive Travel groups Voltaire's Rock with Max's Climax 1 and 2, Bulawarte and a wreck as five dives outside the resort ranging from 15 to 40 metres, and Padre Burgos Castle Resort and FeetDoTravel mention the name only inside grouped house-reef descriptions; those grouped ranges are not Voltaire's Rock figures. The SSI contributor entry repeats the resort's "big fish action" wording, so every detailed description traces back to Sogod Bay Scuba Resort; the Selsey log is the only independent dated observation found.
