About This Dive Site
Zack's Cove is listed by Sogod Bay Scuba Resort as a dive site in Southern Leyte. The operator describes steep walls around Limasawa Island.
The relationship between Zack’s Cove, Zach’s Cove and Gunter’s Wall is unresolved. This record follows the operator’s Zack’s Cove map label; it does not create a separate Gunter’s Wall record or assert that the names are interchangeable. The source pin is an operator map location, not a surveyed navigation waypoint.
This partial guide preserves the operator’s published location while further checks are pending. Current entry arrangements, depth limits, currents, visibility and seasonal conditions remain unconfirmed here. Confirm the intended site and a suitable dive plan with a local operator.
Names used by different sources
Sogod Bay Scuba Resort's current map data, captured on 7 October 2026, labels this pin "Zack's Cove" at 20–50 metres, advanced level and a day trip, with deep steep walls, massive table corals, nudibranchs and frogfish as highlights. The same resort's 2019 listing on Bluewater Dive Travel used "Zacks Cove" alongside "Adrians Cove" with the same 20–50 metre range and the same dark, steep-wall wording. Peter's Dive Resort writes "Zach's Cove", Padre Burgos Castle Resort "Zack's Cove", and Dive Happy's guide, updated after an April 2024 visit, "Zach's Cove". The spellings very likely refer to one named cove on Limasawa's east side, but no source states the boundary between it and Gunter's Wall, so the existing caution stands.
Firsthand dives
The travel blog Lakwatsero, in a May 2010 post, descended at Zach's Cove for a wall dive, stayed to a maximum of 30 metres for 50 minutes in good visibility and recorded gorgonians, groupers and trumpetfish; that 30 metre figure is the diver's own profile, not the wall's extent. Dive Happy calls Adrian's Cove and Zach's Cove two remarkably pretty marine-protected-area dives worth the roughly 30-minute boat ride. Peter's Dive Resort's Limasawa section describes walls that are virtually bottomless from a top at about 5 metres, passing a forest of black coral into gorgonian fans, with overhangs and small caves, and notes that Gunter's Wall, Zach's Cove and Adrian's Cove are now inside the largest sanctuary in Southern Leyte; its remark that converging currents at the island's south point can bring pelagics and eagle rays concerns the south point, not this cove. Padre Burgos Castle Resort gives Limasawa's coves 20–50 metres with steep dark walls, gorgonian fans and massive table corals. A LAMAVE account by Gonzalo Araujo of a January 2020 Philippine Siren trip describes four dives on Limasawa's east coast with schools of fish, giant barracuda, frogfish and extensive hard and soft corals, without naming the sites.
Access and experience level
Lakwatsero reached Limasawa in under an hour by boat from Padre Burgos, Dive Happy quotes about 30 minutes, and Sogod Bay Scuba Resort schedules it as a day trip, so expect a longer run than the house-reef sites. Lakwatsero also notes the island's historical claim as the site of the first Catholic mass in the Philippines. The 20 metre lower figure is part of an operator listing range, not a minimum dive depth, and "advanced" is one operator's requirement; a wall that begins near 5 metres and drops beyond 50 metres, with current reported elsewhere on the island, calls for good buoyancy and a plan agreed with the guide.
