Andiamo

Overview

Andiamo is a dive site in the Daram islands of south-east Misool. Bird's Head Seascape places it at two small islets north-west of Daram Island, the westernmost in the group, and gives its GPS position as S 02 05.895 E 130 51.361, which is the point used here. That point marks a submerged pinnacle with its top at 5 metres, just north of the gap between the two islets. Dive Happy describes Andiamo as a ridge, wall and pinnacle site with varied topography and calls it a good warm-up dive at the beginning of a trip.

How the site is dived

Bird's Head Seascape suggests beginning on the east side of the pinnacle and exploring all the way around it. From its south-west corner a coral ridge leads south-west and almost reaches the western islet, whose north side and east corner it rates as excellent. The gap between the islets has extensive sea fan growth, and a long coral-covered ridge runs east and then north from the eastern islet. A shallow plateau south-east of the eastern islet suits snorkelling or a safety stop. Bird's Head Seascape says at least two dives are needed to appreciate the site.

Marine life

Dive Happy reports bumphead parrotfish as a signature sighting, and on its June 2023 trip a very fishy dive with wobbegongs, schools of fusiliers, batfish and a sea snake. Raja Ampat Aggressor's log of April 2026 records a big school of jackfish, another wobbegong and, on a return dive, a walking shark under a rock. Its February 2025 log describes schools of bait fish around the top of the small pinnacle being hunted by trevally, and a shallow ridge with coral and reef fish.

Conditions and level

The sources differ on how demanding the site is. Dive Happy calls it a good warm-up dive, while the Aggressor log of April 2026 says a strong current greeted the group, so the guides chose an entry at a pinnacle slightly away from the island. Apart from the pinnacle top at 5 metres, the sources give no maximum depth, and they give no visibility, water temperature, season, difficulty rating or minimum certification for the site.
