Mainit Point

At the raw southern apex of the Calumpan Peninsula, Mainit Point is Anilao's signature big-water dive. Tidal flow funnels through the narrow strait, sweeping a boulder-strewn slope that steepens past three car-sized rocky mounds at ~30 m before dropping away beyond 40 m. Bulky great barracuda and schooling chevron barracuda hunt the blue, with trevally and dogtooth tuna riding the current; cup-coral gardens and surprising macro fill the slack windows. The name ("mainit" = hot) honors the small geothermal hot spring on the shoreline — the dive itself is pure current-swept pelagic reef.
