Napaling Reef

On Panglao's north coast below the Tangnan cliffs, Napaling drops as a near-vertical wall just 8-10 m off the rocky shore, plunging from a shallow lip into the blue. Its fame rests on a shimmering ball of sardines that hovers at snorkel depth around 3-5 m on the wall's edge, though the school is variable and not guaranteed on any given day. The wall itself is draped in soft corals, sponges, gorgonians and black coral, with overhangs and cuts sheltering frogfish, moray eels, nudibranchs and scorpionfish. Jacks and barracuda patrol the drop-off. Shore- or boat-accessible, it suits everyone from snorkelers on the shallow top to certified divers drifting the deeper face.
