About This Dive Site
A wall and slope at Doljo
Doljo Point is a Panglao wall-and-slope dive described by Philippine Fun Divers and Seaquest. Both mention large sea fans or sponges. It offers a different reef setting from the Alona-area sites, but the boat route and conditions need confirmation for the day.
The old maximum is unverified
Philippine Fun Divers gives an 8–35 m range and Seaquest gives 10–35 m. Neither reviewed description supports the previous 50 m maximum or 25 m average. The shared 35 m endpoint describes their diving ranges; it is not proof of the whole reef’s deepest point.
Wind and current matter
Philippine Fun Divers warns that Amihan winds can make entry and exit challenging. Seaquest describes current that can sometimes be strong. Ask about the intended access and conditions, especially when comparing a shore outing with a boat trip. Occasional pelagic sightings in the source accounts do not predict what you will see.
Sources and remaining gaps

Large reef growth and smaller subjects
Philippine Fun Divers describes giant sea fans, bucket sponges, green leather corals and what it calls elephant-ear coral, as well as anglerfish. Seaquest describes basket sponges and green elephant-ear sponges on the steep slope, with giant green frogfish among them. The two elephant-ear labels are retained as each operator’s terminology; this review does not establish that they refer to the same organism or justify correcting one from the other. Both accounts make the attached reef growth a useful focus independent of rare open-water sightings.
The Fun Divers account mentions mackerel, squid and young barracuda in the surrounding water. Seaquest refers to previous thresher shark, mobula and mola-mola sightings, without dates or a frequency record. Those historical possibilities are not reliable targets for booking a particular dive, and they do not establish that following deeper terrain improves the chance of an encounter. The wall and slope descriptions are firmer planning context than the undated pelagic reports.
Why the transfer can take longer
Fun Divers explains that its boat route must go around shallow water at Panglao’s tip, rather than following the shortest apparent crossing. It lists approximately 39 minutes by banca from Alona Beach over 15 km. Its reference to a high-tide shortcut is an operator navigation detail, not a route recommendation. The same page discusses land entry and caution on the reef top, so shore and boat access should not be treated as the same arrangement. Published visibility also differs: Fun Divers gives 15–22 m and Seaquest 10–40 m, neither a forecast for the proposed outing.
