About This Dive Site
A wall and sandy slope near Alona
Philippine Fun Divers places Garden Eels on the west side of Alona Beach, in Danao, Panglao. It describes a curved cliff, coral on the upper wall and a sandy slope. Seaquest’s named Garden Eels section describes the same broad combination of wall, coral garden and sand, helping distinguish the outing from a wreck dive.
Published ranges describe different routes
Philippine Fun Divers lists 5–23 m, while Seaquest gives 4–40 m. These ranges do not establish one surveyed minimum or maximum for the whole reef. Ask which section the operator intends to visit and what depth is planned for your group. A shallower coral area and a deeper slope can be part of different outings under the same site name.
Wildlife and night-diving context
The operators describe garden eels in the sand and mention night diving. These reports explain why the site appears in local itineraries, but do not guarantee a particular animal, visibility or current on a future dive. Confirm whether a quoted trip is a day or night outing and where entry and pickup will take place.
A source-attributed partial guide
This replaces an earlier description that presented unresolved measurements too confidently. Existing field evidence is retained separately; its presence does not make conditions a forecast. Exact route boundaries, contemporary sightings and suitability for an individual diver still need confirmation.

Habitats described within the site
Seaquest's named Garden Eels section places peacock mantis shrimp in burrows beside the drop-off's coral garden. It reports ornate and robust ghost pipefish among feather stars, with batfish schools and snappers along the reef wall. These descriptions distinguish the coral edge, sandy eel habitat and wall rather than treating every animal as occupying the same part of the dive. They are operator reports, not a surveyed distribution or a promise that a guide will locate those subjects.
A visitor's logged outing
Justyn Jen's Panglao account, first published in February 2025 and updated in July 2026, includes a separately labelled Garden Eel dive. The writer records a maximum of 22.4 metres, an average depth of 13.5 metres and a duration of 56 minutes, describing a reef dive with corals, pipefish and a large black frogfish. The same entry records 28°C water and 10 metres of visibility. These are measurements and observations from that outing, whose exact date is not stated, rather than typical conditions or a recommended profile. The adjacent Arco Point and BBC logs describe different sites and are not combined with this record.
