About This Dive Site

Ginama-an and the tire-reef descriptions

Ginama-an appears in Dumaguete.com's Dauin guide as an artificial reef made from used tires. Dauin Diving Center uses Ginama for a truck-tire reef, while Sea Explorers describes Ginama Point. These accounts share a distinctive habitat, but matching descriptions alone do not establish identical entry points or dive boundaries. Confirm the name and intended location with your operator when arranging a visit.

What the published accounts describe

Dumaguete.com describes tires piled together with coral growth and small marine animals around them. Dauin Diving Center similarly describes tires supporting corals and sponges. Sea Explorers adds a nearby seagrass area under its Ginama Point heading. That gives useful context for comparing proposed dives, but the precise relationship of the seagrass area to the existing map point has not been verified here.

The sources report frogfish, nudibranchs and various crustaceans. Dauin Diving Center also mentions mantis shrimps and mimic octopuses. These are attributed, undated descriptions rather than recent observations, and the account does not promise a particular animal. General reports of seahorses elsewhere in Dauin do not establish their abundance at this reef. No site-specific encounter frequency or wildlife season has been established by this review.

Depth and access information

Dumaguete.com's Ginama-an entry explicitly gives a maximum depth of 20 metres. Dauin Diving Center's Ginama page and Sea Explorers' Ginama Point description also give 20 metres. This agreement is useful operator-planning context, although the exact boundaries covered by each account remain uncertain. The number should not be treated as a recommended personal diving depth or a guarantee that every route stays within it.

Dauin Diving Center lists shore entry and Open Water or higher under its Ginama description. Confirm the actual departure and entry arrangements for your booking: a published access category does not establish current permission to cross a particular property or the conditions at the water's edge.

Night diving and conditions

Dauin Diving Center and Sea Explorers both describe night diving at their named tire-reef sites. Ask whether a guided night visit is available for your dates and what equipment and experience the operator requires. The presence of a shallow artificial reef does not establish that conditions are suitable on a particular day. Divebooker’s Ginama-an page gives visibility up to 15 metres, recommends January to May and describes average water temperatures of 26–28°C. Those are undated directory summaries, not a forecast or measured temperature extremes. Regional Dauin ranges should not be treated as measurements from this reef.

Location uncertainty and corrections

Sea Explorers publishes a Ginama Point location that differs from the existing point on this page. This review has not moved or averaged those locations. Treat the map as unresolved identification information, not navigation guidance. This partial guide was reviewed on 1 October 2026 without local-diver verification. Dated corrections clarifying the names, entry point and current reef condition are welcome through the correction link.
