About This Dive Site

A Danao wall leading to a slope

Kalipayan is described by Philippine Fun Divers as connected to Danao Beach, with a wall transitioning to a slope. Seaquest also describes a coral wall, cracks and an adjoining sandy slope. Confirm the named section when arranging a local Panglao outing.

Different operator endpoints

Philippine Fun Divers lists 3–25 m and Seaquest gives 3–30 m. These ranges agree on a shallow starting figure but differ in their deeper endpoint. They do not establish one surveyed maximum. The earlier 14 m average is not supported by either reviewed account.

Reef features and wildlife

The sources describe coral and crevices, with operator accounts of marine life. Those accounts are useful context, but they do not establish current species presence or the chance of an encounter. Ask which wall section and slope are included, and whether the planned route remains entirely in open water. Visibility and current should be checked for the actual dive.

Coral wall, crevices and adjoining sand

Philippine Fun Divers describes an area large enough for two dives, with blue corals, table corals, sea fans and brown daisy coral. Its reported fish include dothead rockcod and small barracuda. In the wall’s crevices it describes comet fish and banded pipefish, and it mentions possible harlequin ghost pipefish sightings with a guide. Those reports add specific subjects to the wall description without proving current residency or making a rare animal the purpose of every visit.

Seaquest’s Kalipayan section adds soft and hard corals, gorgonian fans and a connecting sandy slope. It reports hawksbill and green turtles around the wall, giant pufferfish, spearing mantis shrimp on the adjoining slope and giant frogfish. This is a mix of wall and sand habitats rather than a claim that all those animals occupy one small patch. Neighbouring sites have their own sections on the same operator page; their wrecks and artificial objects are not assigned to Kalipayan here.

Choosing a section for the outing

The Fun Divers table identifies 7–12 m as its most interesting depth band and describes a wall at the beginning changing into a slope later in the dive. Its two-dive comment describes the area’s extent, not a requirement to book two dives or a guarantee that one route covers it all. The operator gives an approximate eight-minute banca transfer over 2 km from Alona Beach and 10–25 m visibility; Seaquest gives 8–25 m visibility. These advertised ranges and timings are useful comparisons, while the chosen section and conditions require the operator’s current briefing.
