Kasai Point

Kasai Point, also known as Kasai Wall, is a renowned dive site in Moalboal, Cebu, Philippines, famous for its dramatic wall dive topography and diverse marine life. This site is easily accessible by a short boat ride, typically around 5 to 9 minutes from dive centers in the area, and can also be accessed as a shore dive from some resorts. The dive begins in a shallow coral garden that transitions into a steep slope before dropping off to a vertical wall. The wall itself is adorned with vibrant gorgonian sea fans and a rich variety of hard and soft corals, creating a healthy reef ecosystem. Divers can explore numerous canyons and small caves along the wall, adding an element of adventure to the dive. There is also a 140-meter cave system that penetrates the wall, accessible to divers with appropriate training and equipment. The shallow reef top is particularly rich in macro life, offering excellent opportunities for underwater macro photography. Common sightings include a wide array of reef fish such as parrotfish, damselfish, butterflyfish, angelfish, and frogfish of various sizes and colors. Nudibranchs are abundant, often found in the wall's crevices, alongside other interesting critters like pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefish, and harlequin shrimp. Turtles, including hawksbill and green sea turtles, are frequently spotted grazing in the shallows and along the reef. Occasional sightings of larger pelagic species like whale sharks, tuna, jacks, barracuda, and even reef sharks have been reported, particularly along the current-swept wall face. The site is suitable for Open Water Divers and above, with deeper sections and caves catering to advanced and technical divers. Currents at Kasai Point can range from none to moderate, occasionally experiencing slight drifts, making it an engaging dive for various skill levels. Visibility generally ranges from 10 to 35 meters, with optimal conditions during the dry season. Water temperatures are consistently warm, typically between 26°C and 30°C, allowing for year-round diving. The best season for diving is generally from January to May, coinciding with the dry season, which offers calmest seas and best visibility, though diving is possible all year. Night dives are also popular, revealing a different array of marine life, including hunting frogfish and crustaceans. Kasai Point is a well-regarded dive site, offering a comprehensive and rewarding diving experience for both beginner and experienced divers.
