About This Dive Site
Dive Funatics lists Kontiki Reef as a dive site in Mactan.
This guide follows the operator’s named Kontiki Reef. It does not use the operator’s business address or footer map as a dive-site location. Exact site boundaries and entry arrangements remain unresolved.
Location unresolved: The retained source coordinate remains unverified. This partial guide has no map marker or navigation point.
Depth, current strength, visibility, seasonal conditions, access arrangements and diver suitability remain unknown in this partial guide. Confirm the intended site and a suitable dive plan with a local operator. No local-diver verification has been recorded.
Reported reef terrain and artificial reef
Dive Funatics describes a sandy training area leading down a gentle slope to about 12 metres, followed by a wall reaching much deeper water. Its figures of about 50 metres and potentially 100 metres describe the drop-off, not a recommended recreational profile or a verified maximum for this guide. The operator identifies an iron crane digger or clam attachment as a notable artificial feature. This is industrial equipment, not a giant living clam. It also names Kontiki as its adopted Dive Against Debris site and describes using the area for training and night dives; those operational descriptions do not establish current public access or a scheduled night departure.
The historical Diving Guide to the Philippines describes Kon Tiki House Reef between Tambuli and Agus, with coral bommies above a wall facing the Hilutungan Channel. It records seagrass in the shallows and an iron-clam artificial reef sunk in the 1990s, subsequently covered by hard and soft corals. The guide describes a reef starting directly beside a seawall rather than a beach, another historical access detail that needs checking against present entry arrangements. These older descriptions add context to the crane attachment reported by Dive Funatics without supplying a verified navigation point.
A dated account of the neighbouring reefs
BlueCares' September 30, 2014 Aquamania account covers both Kontiki Wall and Bluewater Maribago's house reef in Maribago Cove. The writer specifically reports sardines along Kontiki Wall. However, the account's shallow drop-off near Bluewater's private island belongs to that neighbouring reef and is not used here as Kontiki's depth or entry location. The same account describes wall corals, anemones and small animals in crevices across the visited area. Its distinction between the two reefs matters when comparing an operator's proposed route with this guide: a shared cove does not make their entry points interchangeable. Those observations are a dated diver account, not evidence of today's fish numbers, visibility or access arrangements.
