About This Dive Site
Different parts of Luca Sanctuary
Dauin Diving Center describes a shore-accessible site combining shallow algae-covered ground, artificial reef structures and a deeper wooden boat. Its account reports turtles feeding in the shallow area, cages, pyramids and bell-shaped structures at 10–18 m, and boat remains at about 26 m. These are attributed feature depths, not a measured average or a complete survey of the site.
Artificial reef and macro interest
According to DDC, soft and hard corals cover the structures. Its account associates them with reef fish such as batfish, butterflyfish and pufferfish, and highlights smaller subjects including ghost pipefish, mantis shrimp, nudibranchs, other shrimp and crabs. Around the deeper boat it reports fish including groupers, snappers and lionfish. The lists describe an operator's experience of the site; they provide no dated abundance survey or guarantee of a sighting on your visit.
Agree which features your dive includes
DDC makes a specific Advanced Open Water or higher qualification condition for visiting the deeper boat, even though the page's general level label also includes Open Water. A broad beginner label should therefore not be interpreted as covering every feature. Confirm whether the proposed outing stays around the shallower structures or includes the deeper remains, and ask the operator to explain its requirements for that route.
What remains uncertain
The earlier 19–20 m maximum is not established as a whole-site limit by this account. Current access restrictions, seasonal measurements and encounter frequencies remain unverified here. The source's description of submerged structures does not establish that entering them is permitted or suitable. A named sanctuary and a published shore-access description also do not confirm today's operating arrangements. Check the intended entry and route directly before booking.

Sand and coral beyond the structures
Sea Explorers describes Luca Sanctuary as a combination of sand and coral blocks, adding another perspective to DDC's artificial-reef account. Its named Luca section reports moray eels, stingrays and anemonefish as well as frogfish, shrimp, groupers and snappers. The operator describes access by a short walk from its local base; that is an operator-specific access description, not a walking time from every Dauin accommodation.
Sea Explorers lists Pura Vida Housereef separately, with wrecks, concrete blocks, a steel pyramid and night-diving interest. It also gives Banka Wreck its own entry. Those neighbouring listings should not be merged into Luca's route: their structure descriptions, depths and night-diving recommendation do not establish the same features or arrangements at this sanctuary.
