strong
While the claim states currents are 'mild', multiple sources indicate that currents can sometimes be strong, particularly for freediving, which contradicts the general 'mild' classification.

About This Dive Site
An island sanctuary reached from Mactan
Seven Seas Dive Center describes Nalusuan as a private island with a long jetty and a marine sanctuary visited on boat excursions. The island setting distinguishes this outing from a shore dive along Mactan itself.
Reef and sandy slope
Seven Seas reports soft corals and rays. Emerald Green describes shallow coral areas followed by a gentle slope and sand. These are attributed accounts of the terrain and wildlife, not guaranteed encounters or a measurement of present reef condition.
Check the day's arrangements
Confirm the proposed reef section, boat departure and sanctuary access arrangements with your operator. This partial guide does not establish a current admission price or a surveyed depth range. Existing unknown or disputed values remain labelled rather than inferred from the island's reputation.
Shallows, sandy sections and the wall
Scotty's Action Sports Network describes a very shallow start followed by a sloping wall interrupted by sand. Its account distinguishes hard and soft corals, sponges and coralline algae rather than presenting the bottom as one continuous coral cover. The operator reports sweetlips, snappers, angelfish, triggerfish and groupers around the reef, alongside rays, barracudas and turtles in the wider area. These are attributed wildlife reports, not guaranteed encounters or a statement that every species occupies the same route.
Scotty's estimates a 20–40 minute boat journey from its Mactan centre, depending on the boat. That is a provider-specific journey estimate, not a fixed transfer time from every Mactan departure point. Its page combines diving with shallow-water snorkelling and island excursions; the shallow starting area does not establish that all wall profiles suit every diver. Current departure arrangements, sanctuary charges and the intended dive sector need confirmation separately.
Coral Sea Dive Center describes a gentle slope on one side of Nalusuan and a wall on the other, with a coral garden above the wall. This helps explain why accounts of the same island can emphasise different terrain, without treating them as interchangeable dive profiles.
A historical visitor account
Mick Jeacle's Philippines Sojourn in the Victorian Sub-Aqua Group's February–March 2010 Fathoms records an overnight Nalusuan visit and a later return for two wall dives. His companion saw yellow snappers while snorkelling; that observation was separate from his scuba dives. On the return trip he describes a large school of jacks moving in a spiral, while also reporting that the group did not see other large fish during the same wall dives. The account is useful dated evidence of different experiences around the island, not a present-day abundance survey or a promise of large-animal sightings.
