About This Dive Site
Clarify which Poblacion section you will visit
La Tortue lists Poblacion District 1 and District 2 separately. Its first entry combines reef and sandy terrain; the second describes muck and artificial structures. This existing Poblacion Sanctuary record has a broader name, so neither district is silently treated as an exact alias.
Depth and booking scope
The provider advertises 2–30 m for District 1 and 5–30 m for District 2. Those are section-specific reports. They do not establish a single minimum or maximum for this broadly named listing, nor prove that an outing covers both sections.
What remains unresolved
Confirm the district, entry point and planned profile before booking. Exact boundaries, a universal qualification and measured seasonal conditions remain unverified in this review. The source's promotional wildlife language is not treated as guaranteed sightings. This is a useful partial orientation guide rather than a surveyed sanctuary boundary.

What La Tortue says about each district
La Tortue Diving Center's coastal dive-site page describes Poblacion District 1 as the northern stretch of the Dauin Marine Sanctuary where reefs meet muck, recommended for all levels. For marine life it names colorful reef fish, barracuda and snapper schools, nudibranchs, shrimp and turtles. It sums the dive up as two personalities in one, with shallow coral gardens plus black-sand surprises. The same page describes Poblacion District 2 as a calm muck dive with bonus artificial structures beyond 20 m, recommended for all levels with steady buoyancy. For District 2 it names crabs, shrimps, pipefish, cephalopods and cuttlefish, and calls it a reliable training site. The page is promotional and undated in what was captured.
The sanctuary setting in Dauin
Bongo Bongo Divers, a Dauin operator, writes in an undated page that Dauin has ten marine protected areas, nine along the mainland coast and one around Apo Island. It says each sanctuary is looked after by a local fisherfolk association that receives a share of the sanctuary fees, and that the Bantay Dagat sea wardens patrol them. It also says sanctuary fees are shared between local fishers' associations at 40%, the municipality at 40% and the host barangays at 20%. This describes the municipality, not a boundary for Poblacion Sanctuary. Liquid Dumaguete likewise notes that government-imposed marine sanctuary fees are not included in its dive rates. Fee amounts change, so ask the operator what applies.
Other operators' site names
E-Fun Dive Resort places Bonnet Corner further north past District 1 and District 2, so it also refers to a District 1 and a District 2, though it does not use the Poblacion name and gives no description of either.
Limits of this guide
None of these pages gives a surveyed boundary, so which district or fee zone applies to this broadly named listing remains unresolved. Do not read the district wildlife lists as promises, and note that La Tortue places these districts on the Dauin coast, so they may not match this Dumaguete listing.
