About This Dive Site
The slope and the cars are different parts of the outing
Cars is a Dauin coastal dive where the shallow search area and deeper vehicle remains need to be distinguished when planning a visit. Dauin Diving Center describes a descent along a moderately steep sandy slope to two sunken cars at 26–30 m. Its general site listing includes shallower diving, while its condition for visiting the cars is more restrictive.
What DDC's route includes
The operator describes macro subjects on the slope, including ghost pipefish, frogfish, seahorses, cuttlefish and nudibranchs. These are reported possibilities rather than a guaranteed collection of sightings. The route therefore has interest beyond the vehicles themselves; a diver joining a shallower outing should confirm what the guide plans to cover instead of expecting a visit to the cars.
DDC lists shore entry and a 30 m maximum. Although its overall listing accepts Open Water divers or above, it specifically requires Advanced Open Water or higher to visit the deeper cars. That is this operator's published participation policy, not a universal rule applied to every part of the slope or every local business.
The broader Tires and Cars description
Bongo Bongo presents Tires and Cars together, while explicitly describing two areas. Its tyre reef begins around 18 m. For Cars, it describes mooring lines and concrete blocks in the shallows, with vehicle wrecks and a concrete mixer farther down. The combined listing gives a 28 m maximum. A combined operator page is useful route context, but does not prove that all its features fall within one precisely bounded site.
Bongo Bongo reports subjects such as pipefish, nudibranchs, stargazers and small frogfish around these habitats. It suggests more than one dive to explore the wider area. DDC likewise recommends two dives for appropriately qualified visitors. Ask which area each proposed dive includes rather than assuming a single booking covers both the tyres and all vehicle remains.
Questions before booking
Confirm the actual route, planned depth and required certification with your chosen operator. The published 28 m and 30 m figures refer to operator descriptions; they are not evidence of a measured whole-site limit or an average depth. A deeper route also should not be substituted silently for an advertised shallow macro outing.
The reviewed pages do not establish present wreck condition, structural stability or suitability for entering any structure. Earlier unsupported species associations remain unconfirmed, and published wildlife lists do not provide encounter rates. Ask for recent conditions and observations from the section you intend to visit.
