Cathedral Cave

About This Dive Site
A sea-connected cave at Coron Island
KISS Diving places Cathedral Cave on the eastern side of southern Coron Island and describes a submerged connection to an interior chamber. This is the Coron dive site, not the similarly named attraction at Pinasil Island in El Nido. The shared name is a reason to confirm the destination when booking.
Depth depends on the section
KISS reports 10 m inside the cave and describes a tunnel reaching 12 m. The Two Seasons Pawikan menu lists a 0–15 m range. These figures refer to different descriptions of the outing and should not be combined into an assumed route or a single verified maximum.
Access is conditional
Pawikan labels this outing seasonal and weather permitting. Reggae Dive Center also restricts availability by season, while KISS specifically warns about wave-driven surge at the entrance. Confirm whether the site is operating and what the planned route involves before arranging the trip.
What this partial guide cannot establish
This review does not establish today's access conditions, visibility, a universal certification requirement or the suitability of any interior route. Descriptions of openings and chambers are not entry instructions. Ask the operator conducting the dive to explain the environment, required experience and conditions; the published depth figures alone do not determine suitability.
Features described in the chamber
KISS describes daylight entering part of the interior and a fallen tree trunk with branches resting above a sand mound. These reported features help explain the site's name and the interest of the chamber. They are not a current inspection of the roof or a guarantee that a particular feature can be reached on an offered dive.
Small animals in the source account
The operator also reports juvenile lobsters and cowry shells in the cave environment. The account provides neither observation dates nor encounter frequency, and it does not establish what will be visible during your visit. Its description of clear water outside the cave must not be treated as a visibility measurement for the interior.
Keep the surroundings distinct
The source discusses both the enclosed environment and corals in the open sea outside. Those are different parts of its account. A report of daylight or an air space does not itself establish an unobstructed route to the surface, so the guide retains its access and experience questions rather than reproducing the operator's step-by-step itinerary.
A dated club visit adds context
A Sydney Sub Aqua Club trip report published on 28 April 2012 describes bats, stalactites and light entering from a forested opening during its Cathedral Cave visit. It also records bamboo poles attributed to local bird-nest collectors. These observations describe that visit, not current wildlife or equipment in the chamber.
The same account reports disturbed sand, contact with a low roof and a diver becoming entangled in a line. Those reported difficulties add concrete context to the overhead-environment caution above; they are not a route to imitate or a present inspection of the passage. This guide does not adopt the group's entry sequence as diving instructions.
